TWO ARRESTED IN GGN RAPE AND MURDER CASE
A lady sub-inspector, Suman Sura has been suspended for her negligence in the case
The Gurugram Police Commissioner on Wednesday said that two accused have been arrested in the gang rape of a 19-yearold girl and murder of her 9 – month-old daughter.
After three youth were identified as the culprits in the heinous act committed on the night of May 29, the cops on Tuesday had released the sketches of the accused.
Yogender who was arrested at 1:30 pm on Wednesday hails from Bas Kusla village in Manesar, said police.
The arrest was interesting as Yogender was provided to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Gurugram by the village head of Bas Kusla, Jiender Chauhan. Yogender had apparently confessed to him about the crime.
Another accused Amit has been arrested from Delhi- Gurugram border. The arrest was made at 6:30 pm. The other accused Jaikesh is still at large. The trio belongs to Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh and is believed to be in their early and mid 20's.
Citing that the case was still under preliminary investigation, the Gurugram Police Commissioner, Sandeep Khirwar did not indulge into further details of the SIT. Facing heavy criticism over the handling of the case, he admitted that the cops had conducted various lapses in handling the case.
Khirwar conceded that there was a delay in providing swift response and conducting a medical autopsy of the rape survivor.

Based on the information provided, the rape survivor who hails from Bihar was going to her maternal home in Khandsa road with her 9 – month-old daughter after she had an argument with her tenant.
She first boarded the cantor at around 9:00 pm that took her to Manesar. Following this, she took an auto driven by Yogender with his accomplices Jaikesh and Amit.
The accused trio who were under the influence of alcohol molested her and eventually took turns to rape her. Meanwhile, to prevent her daughter from crying, the trio smothered her to death.
Reportedly all three had tried to muffle her voice as they took turns to rape her one by one. The post mortem revealed that the baby girl ultimately died of asphyxia.
On May 30, after confirming her daughter's death from AIIMS, the rape survivor first filed a complaint of murder. Later on June 3 after gaining the confidence of her family and husband the survivor filed the complaint of gang rape.
“We have begun the process of counseling the rape survivor so that she can gain further courage. We are also investigating that whether more people are involved in assisting the three accused,” said Khirwar.
