Four minors held for murder of 17-year-old boy
After getting infuriated over repeated insults to his sister, a juvenile and three other minors stabbed a 17-year-old boy to death in Outer Delhi's Kanjhawala.
Police apprehended all the accused on Sunday after getting local inputs sourced from the ‘Ears and Eyes' scheme.
All the accused were produced before a juvenile justice board on Sunday and will be sent to a correctional home.
Police also claimed to have recovered the weapon used for committing the crime.
On June 16, the police had received grim details of the case and found the victim Jatin's body seated on a chair inside a house in Ladpur village.
“The boy was found dead and tied to the chair with the help of a wire. Jatin had a deep gash to his neck. The crime teams had collected all the evidence from the crime scene and started investigating the case,” said a senior police official.
To received vital inputs, the police resorted to their local informers, utilising the ‘Eyes and Ears' scheme
The scheme had recently been launched by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, to involve the community in policing. The police eventually got inputs that the deceased was last seen with the four minors.
When the minors were questioned, they reportedly broke down and confessed to their involvement.
“All the boys would consume drugs together. One of the boys informed us that Jatin would hurl abuses at his sister and would have minor confrontations over the issue. On the day of the incident they decided to eliminate him to avenge his sister's humiliation,” the official said.
