NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority’s much-awaited new housing scheme with 12,000 flats on offer is “almost certain” to roll out on June 30, officials said on Tuesday. Top DDA officials said the brochure for the scheme was ready and all other modalities had been put in place.

“We are all set for the launch of the new scheme. As of now, June 30 as the date for its roll-out looks almost certain,” a senior official said.

Logical constraints, from printing of brochures to linking with partnering banks, had been ironed out, he said.

“We have to ensure everything is in order before we make the scheme public. And, at this time, things do look in order,” said DDA a senior officer.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Police Sation at Central Secretariat has registered 2,294 cases since January this year which is maximum among all the metro police station in national capital.

According to the report, the police attributed rise in number of pick- pocketing and theft case as also issues like staff crunch and lack of space as the reason for the surge in case.

However, the Delhi Metro Rail Police in compared to last year had registered 9, 705 cases.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has reported that the metro stations are adequately covered under the jurisdiction of 14 police stations of metro. Delhi Police is doing regular patrolling in metro stations to check suspects, while the Police Assistance Booths are also functioning at the major stations.

According to the report, the police station, which was set up in 2015 on the Yellow Line has only 15 personnel, which included an inspector and no permanent office.

They are currently working from a building given to the Rajouri Garden Metro Police Station, which is nine stops away on the Blue Line.

These 15 personnel also look after Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, and Lok Kalyan Marg stations.

In addition, police keeps regular liaison with the CISF authorities and joint drives are conducted from time to time.

They had also reported that the increase in the incidents of theft is mainly attributed to the conscious policy of truthful registration of cases, increase in number of daily commuters and convenient mode of filing FIRS online.

However, complainants have to face a lot of problems as there is no police station at the Central Secretariat.

“As people have to change lines and travel nine stops till Rajouri Garden to file a complaint, they often leave without reporting the matter,” a police officer told Millennium Post.

Speaking to the reporter, DCP (Metro) Jintendra Mani said that the increase in number of cases could be due to the surge in the number of metro stations and passenger footfall.

“We have written to the Delhi Metro. We have also taken up the issue with the government to give us space on the same line.

“If our men are posted at same station, they can work more effectively. We have also requested for more staff at the (Central Secretariat) station,” Mani added.
