KOLKATA: The South 24 Parganas Police on Tuesday night arrested three persons including two women on charges of running a sleaze racket in a hotel at Diamond Harbour. Police said that some people were running the racket in the ground floor of the hotel. Acting on a tipoff, officers conducted raids in the hotel and arrested the accused persons.

The owner of the hotel and two sex workers were arrested and they were produced before the court, a police source said.

“The local residents informed about the racket and requested the police to take steps. The police caught the accused persons red-handed,” the source further said.

The local residents informed police that the owner of the hotel used to bring unknown women at midnight and used his hotel as the place for such business. The residents had warned him to stop the illegal business but he did not pay heed to them.

It may be mentioned that the South 24 Parganas police started raids to unearth such rackets in the villages. The investigators arrested many people connected with the rackets who are running the business of pornography too.

The investigators earlier had seized printed matters and CDS of pornographic contents from the places that they had raided. They learnt that sex workers are being employed by the manufacturers of the pornographic videos to pose in front of the camera.

“Some hotel owners are involved in this business too. They are running pornography CD business,” said a police officer.
