Life is beautiful

- LATA ARORA

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL .... ISN’T IT? Undoubtedly it is. How many times in your busy schedule have you taken out time to look outside the window of your car, to see how many new flowers have come on the trees; the poor children on the road-side smiling and laughing amidst heat, dirt, pollution, poverty, hunger. How many times have you noticed the beauty of the bird that flies just above you in search of food? How many times have you noticed the hawker on the road-side smiling and singing among his impoverished condition? That day as I was coming back from my office, all harrowed and flustered after a long and tiring day, I saw a poor rickshaw puller riding his rickshaw, singing loudly and smiling. That day, I thought- if that poor man who is riding rickshaw in such scorching heat can sing and smile, why can’t we- it was a life-changing moment. Really, we put so many conditions to be happy that the day when all the conditions are fulfilled, we lose the very feeling of becoming happy; we must avoid that. Be as generous with yourself and everyone around, as God has been with us. Don’t put conditions on happiness. Happiness is free. It is not a commodity we can buy. It is within us. There is no need to search for it outside. The doors to happiness open inwards. Life is amazing, lovely and the most beautiful gift of merciful God to us. Honour it, cherish it, love it and live it to its literal meaning.
