Minister directs RCS to form audit wing

NEW DELHI: Delhi Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam has directed the Registrar, Cooperative Societies (RCS) to form audit wing as an attempt to curb corruption. Gautam has given three key directions and deadlines for each in his first meeting with the senior officials.

“There were various complaints of corruptions about cooperatives, but I will stop these practices,” Gautam said. He met the RCS officials on Wednesday, where they discussed various issues.

The officials also gave a presentation on RCS and the work undertaken by the office.

Talking to Milllennium Post, Gautam said: “Firstly, they have to ensure proper audit and for this I have directed to make an audit wing.”

He elaborated that the audit wing will check all the details of the transaction and if there is any irregularity it will report directly to the minister.

He also directed the officials to clear the pending files in priority.

“If there are no legal irregularities with any case, then all the pending files should be cleared within a week,” Gautam said.

The minister also asked the officials to submitting every report of the pending files to his department. “If there is any irregularity with any of these files, then I will personally look after those cases,” Gautam stated.

He also ordered timely election to be conducted for the cooperative bodies.

“Corrupt actions will be identified through these steps and I will immediately remove the officers concerned,” asserted Gautam.

Senior RCS officials welcomed the decisions taken by the minister. “The minister is very concerned about the cooperatives. He has listened to all our problems and ensured to take actions,” a senior official said.

Gautam, who has handed over charge of the Cooperative department a week ago, made a surprise visit to the RCS office on the first day of his appointment as Cooperative minister.

After his visit, he directed the officials to make a presentation about all activities taken RCS.
