Rs 198 cr earmarked to maintain Ggn colonies

GURUGRAM: The detailed project report prepared by the consultants appointed by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has marked Rs 198 crore for the maintenance of three private colonies namely Palam Vihar, Sushant Lok and Suncity.

In the report, Rs 98 crore have been earmarked for Palam Vihar, Rs 70 crore for Sushant Lok, Rs 12 crore for Suncity and remaining for other colonies. After the submission of the report, the civic body officials have sent the notices to the developers directing them to expedite the maintenance works so that the colonies can be acquired by MCG quickly.

The civic body officials will also be sending the notices to other private colonies once their reports are completed. Lakhs of residents residing in the private colonies in Gurugram are protesting over the lack of maintenance in their neighbourhoods.

Increased protest by the residents resulted in Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announcing in April that the process of acquiring the private colonies should be hastened as soon as possible. Most of the residents in these colonies complain that even though they pay high maintenance fees to the private developers, the infrastructure has only deteriorated.in May, MCG Commissioner V Umashankar announced the developers must fill in the infrastructural deficiencies in their area or provide MCG with the money so that they can undertake the incomplete maintenance projects.
