Deal directly with schools: SISODIA TO EDUCATION DEPT OFFICERS

- SAYANTAN GHOSH

NEW DELHI: The administrations of the schools should meet, discuss and communicate openly issues with officials of the Education department to strengthen the government's education system, urged Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after his meeting with the School Management Committee.

Sisodia, who also holds the Education portfolio, urged officials to go above from just writing letters to the concerned people and have a direct communication.

"You should stop the practice of relieving your responsibility by writing a letter or sending papers. Communicate directly with the concerned authority and ask them to resolve your issues," Sisodia said.

He added that schools deal with children and they deserve priority. "The system should change and communication should increase," he asserted.

After the successful mega parents' teacher meeting (PTM) of Delhi government schools last Friday, Sisodia met with officials on Sunday.

Sources said that after the PTM, many complaints regarding toilets and infrastructure came to the minister.

After preliminary enquiry, he found that in most such cases, the works have been pending for a long time and officials admitted they wrote to the concerned people, but did not get any response.

"If there is a report of toilet needed to be repaired, the authority should directly meet the engineers and visit the site in priority," Sisodia said.

He also asked school authorities to take up their questions and asked parents to do the same.

According to reports, in the recent PTM, teachers had intense discussions with parents. In many cases, both parents of a student came to the meeting to discuss many issues.

The Education department and school authorities are working to resolve these issues.

Sisodia himself visited many schools to know about the issues from parents.

To address all these problems, he met officials on Sunday and instructed them to practice immediate communication on students' problems.
