MAN WITH SUSPECTED ISI LINKS HELD

Delhi Police has arrested a man from North Delhi's Chandni Mahal following a woman colonel's complaint that he was allegedly blackmaili­ng her. It is said that the colonel who resides in Dwarka in South West Delhi was contacted through a female ID on Facebook and later it turned out to be a man behind a female ID. Later, he started forwarding morphed pictures of the woman officer to her Wattsapp number and blackmaile­d the woman. As the woman is in the army, the case was immediatel­y handed over to the special cell sensing the gravity of the matter.

However, it is still unclear if he really wanted to trap the officer and wanted some secret informatio­n from her.

Police said that they were investigat­ing the man who has been identified as Mohammad Parvez about his Pakistani links.

“Since the man has Pakistani links and has been to Pakistan on several occasion as his relatives reside there, we are investigat­ing if he has something to do with the Pakistani intelligen­ce agency ISI,” said a senior police officer.

The matter came to light when the woman colonel filed a police complaint in Dwarka, alleging that she had been receiving morphed and obscene pictures through Whatsapp from two unknown numbers.

She was threatened that if she did not speak to the sender of the messages, the pictures would be circulated on the internet, the police said. The person sending the pictures and messages asked the woman's daughter to speak to the sender and threatened her with uploading the pictures on social media.

There after the cops registered a case under sections 354 and IT act and started investigat­ion. During the investigat­ion. Later the man was arrested from Chandni mahal area of the Walled city on September 13.

Since the matter involves a woman who serves in the army, the police is not taking any chances and beside the charges pressed against Parvez they are also investigat­ing the motive of his blackmail.

However, it's still unclear how did Parvez came in contact with the woman officer and if the woman really had access to classified informatio­n and why did Parvez hid behind a female profile to contact the lady officer.
