- ABHAY SINGH

NEW DELHI: Two women were found murdered in a house in north Delhi's Wazirabad area on Monday morning.

Police said that the bodies of the two women, identified as Sonia and her Premlata, were found in a pool of blood in the bathroom.

Sonia's father Raj Kumar had been calling his 22-year-old to know about her health, as she recently had undergone a gallbladder operation. After his calls went unanswered, Raj Kumar called his neighbour on the fourth floor and asked her to check on Sonia.

The neighbour reached the ground floor house, only to find the door ajar, and discovered the bodies of the two women.

There were sever injury marks on the neck of the two victims.

Around 10.30 am, the PCR van reached the spot, with a large crowd having gathered. Police said that they a knife, a screwdriver and several bottles of beer and alcohol were found at the crime scene.

Police added that one Mohit, Premlata's husband, is missing. “We have launched a search operation for him,” said a senior police official.

An eyewitness, Rohtash, told Millennium Post that after the neighbour informed him about the bodies, he made a PCR call and further informed Raj Kumar.

Raj Kumar was at the time in Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh with his son to attend a function. “The door was open and they were found lying in a pool of blood,” Rohtash confirmed.

Raj Kumar said his relatives Premlata and Mohit had come to his house to care for Sonia after her operation.

“A few days ago, I had left for my hometown and now I am hearing my daughter's death,” said the inconsolable father.

Residents in the area they had heard no sounds coming from the house. “They were very humble and we used to greet Raj Kumar uncle every morning,” said a student living in the area.

“We cannot say right now whether there was involvement of several persons, but we are probing from all possible angles,” said an investigator.

Police claimed that the motive is still not clear as Mohit, the only suspect at this point, is missing and the father was not at home.

Cops questioned a few people and came to know that a CCTV camera in a shop connected to the house, which could be of some help.

A police official said there were multiple injuries on the bodies of the victims and the whole story will be revealed only after the post-mortem. A case under appropriate sections has been registered at Timarpur police station.
