NEW DELHI: Last Saturday, Raj Kumar, had talked to his daughter Sonia to enquire about her health, as she had undergone an operation of her gall bladder.

Till did he know that Saturday would be the last day he would hear his daughter's voice.

Talking to Millennium Post, Raj Kumar said that his family had been in a good mood as they were getting prepared to get their daughter married.

“Two years ago, my wife died, after which Sonia was the one who was taking care of the family. We wanted her to get married,” said Kumar.

On September 17, her birthday, Sonia had to be admitted to a hospital for the operation, after which she was advised to take bed rest.

When Sonia was found dead at her house by a neighbour, the bandages from her operation were still on her body. Raj Kumar said that the last time he talked to his daughter on phone, he reminded her to get her medical checkup on Monday and not to take much strain.

“I told her to keep the doors locked and stay safe inside the house,” said the grieving father.

Days before he was to leave for Auraiya, his hometown, Raj Kumar had called his relatives Mohit and his wife Premlata – the second deceased – to take care of his daughter.

“They reached the day when I was to leave and I told them to take care of my daughter,” said Raj Kumar. With Sonia's death, Raj Kumar, a widower, is now survived by only his son.

The father now only wants that the accused be arrested at the earliest. “My daughter was everything to me. Now she is no more and I want justice,” said Raj Kumar.

Police sources said that the broken mobile phone found at the spot could provide some clues.
