Cops find ketamine hidden in toothpaste tubes, one held

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have arrested a man who, in a unique modus operandi, used tubes of toothpaste­s for hiding and traffickin­g psychotrop­ic drug ketamine.

Inter-border Gangs Investigat­ion Squad, and Crime Branch, Dwarka were tippedoff that Satender Kumar Yadav alias Rakesh, a member of an internatio­nal illegal drugs syndicate, would come near Panchkuyia­n Road Mod, Nehru Bazar in Paharganj to supply ketamine abroad through a courier.

Subsequent­ly, a Crime Branch team laid a trap near his expected arrival spot and Yadav was successful­ly apprehende­d.

“A total of thirty five 200 g tubes of branded toothpaste kept in a carton were recovered from his possession. Out of these, one kilogram of ketamine, a psychotrop­ic substance, was recovered from seven tubes. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrop­ic Substances Act has been registered and the accused has been arrested,” said DCP (Crime) Bhishm Singh.

Yadav, a resident of Bihar, was residing in a rented house in Paharganj and running a cosmetic shop in the area. Prior to that, he had worked as an assistant at his cousin Nagender’s chemist shop in Paharganj, where foreign customers often used to purchase ketamine.

Nagender would prepare ketamine powder from ketamine injections and supply it to foreign countries. In 2012, Nagender was arrested by police and sent to jail. Since then, Yadav took over the business. NEW DELHI: A fire broke out in seven shanties in Geeta Colony area of Shahdara on Thursday morning, said the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). No casualty was reported.

According to a fire official, the incident came to light when they received a call around 8 am about a cylinder catching fire in one of the shanties.

Ten fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused by 8.25 am, he added. “The cause of the fire has not been ascertaine­d yet. But it was brought under control soon. No casualty occurred,” said a fire department official. NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch has arrested wanted criminal Manoj Kumar in gruesome case of triple murder committed in the year 2011 in the area of Pataudi, Gurugram.

Manoj (32), a resident of Chhawla, and his gang members had first strangulat­ed the three members of a rival gang and then burned their bodies after pouring petrol on them to destroy evidence.

The Delhi Police received informatio­n that Kumar would be coming to Haiderpur Water Plant Bus Stand, near Badli Nahar and a team was formed to arrest the dreaded criminal.

Based on the tip-off, Kumar was apprehende­d on September 26 at about 11:15 am near Badli Nahar.

On sustained interrogat­ion, he has revealed that he was part of the gang that had murdered three persons and burned their bodies in 2011.

In 2010, a man Bijender, resident of Sonepat, murdered Neetu of the same village.

Bijender is a known criminal and has several criminal cases registered against him in Haryana. He was arrested by Haryana Police and was sent to jail.

Following his arrest, Neetu’s family sought revenge. Kuldip (Neetu’s brother) along with his associates Sudhir and Amit killed Patwari (Bijender’s brother). Bijender was in jail but he directed his gang members including Manoj Kumar and others to kill Kuldip, Sudhir and Amit.

In June 2011, Manoj Kumar and his gang members caught the three men and strangulat­ed them to death.

They took the bodies in a Scorpio SUV to Pataudi, Haryana and doused them in five litres of kerosene, setting them on fire. NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro police arrested two men ifor stealing mobile phone on Wednesday.

Police performing patrolling duty at Kashmere Gate Metro Station caught Jakir (30) while he was trying to steal a mobile phone from the complainan­t at platform number three.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (metro) Pankaj Singh said that a complainan­t approached police at Raja Garden Metro Station and reported that his mobile phone was stolen in running Metro train between Jhandewala­n Metro Station to Karol Bagh Metro Station.

Subsequent­ly, the patrolling team apprehende­d Sarfaraj (22) and the stolen phone was recovered.
