Four held for robbing people after drugging them with sedative-laced soft drink

NEW DELHI: Drinking cold drink from the hand of strangers proved fatal.

The example was set by four persons who were running a gang named Jehar Kuarani and were involved in more than 21 cases where they laced sedatives in cold drink and shared it with other people who lost consciousn­ess after consuming it, following which the accused were able to commit crime. The luck of the accused ended as a team of outer Delhi police arrested the accused.

According to police, the accused were identified as Parveen (30), Suraj (28), Prakash (24) and Avdesh (36).

As per plan, the gang used to target people by giving them food and cold drink laced with sedatives.

On the basis of secret informatio­n, the accused were arrested near Water tank Karala.

Sources claimed that the gang first used to target the person who was in the autoricksh­aw and then they sit as a passenger in the vehicle. After some time they would start talking with the victim. Few minutes later they used to told the auto driver to stop the auto and then they purchased cold drink and mixed the sedatives in it after which they used to share with the passengers.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (Outer) Pankaj Singh said that the accused persons were thoroughly interrogat­ed.

They disclosed that they have been involved in several cases of vehicle theft and motor vehicle accessory theft from past one year and had stolen autos and motor vehicle accessorie­s from the area of Ranhola, Aman Vihar, Subhash Place, Bhalaswa Dairy, Sultanpuri, Nangloi, Moti Nagar and Shastri Nagar.

Police claimed that the gang lead by two brothers Parveen and Suraj, residents of Village Nizampur, are involved in 10 criminal cases.
