YEIDA will greatly contribute to the state’s GDP: Chairman
Dr Prabhat Kumar, an IAS officer of 1985 batch, UP cadre, known for probing graft and corruption cases, is holding the reins of Chairman, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority YEIDA), vice chancellor, Gautam Buddha University and divisional commissioner, Meerut division. A gold medalist in medicine, alumni of law faculty (DU), MBA from an Australian university.
You have worked in Noida as its Vice Chairman and now as Chairman of YEIDA, what is your vision for YEIDA?
YEIDA has an enormous potential for future developments. Industrial, institutional, commercial and residential will turn around the commerce of the area. If all goes as per plan, this area will hugely contribute to the state GDP. Recently, the British High Commission contacted YEIDA office for allocation of contiguous land parcel for setting-up of industries and envisaged in bidding for the development of Jewar airport.
How shall you revive the housing sector?
YEIDA has done meetings with all the stake holders including the real estate developers and customer allottees. The defaulter builders have been given a time frame either to hand over the possession or return the money to the buyers besides instructions to adhere to the RERA compliance.
Any plans to develop villages?
Development authorities seldom take the task of developing villages. YEIDA has started an initiative for developing ‘smart’ villages. Few villages have been short listed having high human development index. A blue print has been prepared, focusing connectivity to the urbanised areas, solar power generation, health, village traditional culture and education.
What is your idea for these development authorities?
Laser eye focus and customer satisfaction. Another target is of erasing rampant corruption besides builders to develop sensitivity towards buyers, adhere to financial discipline and deliver projects in time bound frame. Constantly developing and improving the infrastructure in Gautam Buddh Nagar and its nearby areas.
What is your plan to combat land encroachment in Meerut?
Vacating the public land from the clutches of the land mafia or encroachers is our aim. Rejuvenating the Hindon has already begun and many corporate houses, NGO’S, government agencies have started work on total 872 villages.
The market sentiment is low due to demonetisation, implementation of RERA and GST. Is the state government planning to provide any stimulus package?
Already, the state government has formed a group of ministers team for reviving the sentiment and also to address the grievances of the buyers. Another, scheme introduced by YEIDA was the project settlement policy for defaulter builders and many have taken the advantage. The market sentiment is likely to revive.
