Biometric attendance must at all Railway offices by Jan-end
Believing that punctuality of employees in offices would help in improving productivity, the Ministry of Railways has decided to make it must to install Aadhar enabled biometric attendance system in all the offices of Railways by January 31. As per the ministry order, it would be first implemented in all zonal and divisional offices by November 30.
According to an official order, all general managers (GM) have been directed to expedite the implementation of biometric attendance system with utmost priority. It would be implemented in two phases.
In the first phase, the ministry has decided to install biometric attendance machines in the offices of all divisions, zones, RDSO, Metro rail Kolkata, railways workshop, factories, productions units, etc by November 30 and all GMS have been told to submit an implementation report soon after the last date to the Railway Board.
As per the order, in the second phase, the biometric attendance system would be implemented in all the offices of Railways, including public undertakings, attached and subordinate offices, etc and the last date of its roll out is January 31, 2018.
“The biometric attendance system should be integrated and implemented in such as way that status of biometric machines and attendance at divisional/unit level should be accessible by DRM office,” the order said.
Similarly, all DRM offices be integrated with zonal railways and all the zonal railways with Railway Board so that monitoring of attendance of any location could be done by the Board, the order stated.
Not even this, to monitor the activities of employees in the offices, the Board has also directed to install CCTV cameras in working areas. The software seeded with Aadhar details of all employees would be provided by the Railway Board, an official said.
