New parking management system for Noida in the pipeline

-

NOIDA: In order to fix the problem of illegal parking in the city and streamline traffic, the Noida Authority has planned a more effective and potent parking management system, which will end parking woes in the city.

The new parking system will be implemented in the city by December 2017, said Noida Authority officials.

As per the new parking policy, vehicles will be allowed to be parked only at certain locations and vacant spaces.

At present, contractors use roads and vacant spaces wherever available beyond the areas allotted to them to park vehicles, thus creating major problems for traffic policemen, as parking areas in the city are not specified or fenced to provide a clear demarcation.

“We have marked specific locations to construct parking lots in various sectors of the city. Five underground and two multi-level parking lots have been proposed. These parking lots will have a capacity to park over 30,000 vehicles. The construction work is underway and is expected to get completed by next month,” said a senior Noida Authority official.

“Apart from these, we will also reorganise parking lots currently operating around the city and will ensure that contractors running them are forced to follow guidelines for the sites allotted to them,” the official added.

Moreover, the Authority plans to open the city's first and much awaited multi-level car parking facility in Sector-18 to the public by December.

Once operational, the multi-level car parking facility is expected to address traffic congestion issue in and around Sector 18. The eight-level parking facility is expected to accommodate over 3,000 cars.

It may be pointed out that the Sector 18 multi-level car parking has missed three deadlines so far.

Apart from the Sector 18 multi-level parking, the Authority has also planned a multi-level car parking near Sector 37, Botanical Barden.
