GREATER NOIDA: In a tragic incident, a one-yearold boy died while his two other siblings are battling for life after they were allegedly poisoned in Dankaur area of Greater Noida.

The family members of the victims alleged that a middle aged woman living in their neighborhood had poisoned the food, upon consuming which it killed one of their children while other two are critical.

Later, fearing that she may be caught, the neighboring woman herself consumed the same poisonous substance and died the next day, said police.

The deceased has been identified as Nakul while the victims who are battling for their lives are Vanshi(6) and Vineet(3).

According to victim's family members, the incident took place on Sunday evening when the parents of the three siblings had gone out to the farms leaving the three children behind at home along with their grandmother.

“The woman, Jagwati, living next to our home, used to come to our home and on Sunday, she contaminated the food with some poisonous food upon consuming which all the three children fell unconscious. When they were taken to the hospital, doctors declared the youngest one brought dead while the other two are still critical and are admitted to Sharda Hospital in Greater Noida,” said Suresh Gautam, victim's father.

“As of now no complaint has been filed with us. The body of the deceased woman has been recovered and sent for the postmortem, reports of which are awaited. Prima facie reveals that she also died after consuming some poisonous substance. We will begin our probe into the matter once a complaint is given to us,” said Farmood Ali, station house officer, Dankaur Police Station.
