BJP LAUNCHES SILENT DOOR TO DOOR CAMPAIGN TO WOO VOTERS
SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh is all set for the thirteenth Assembly Elections today but still the poll wave is invisible and voters are silent. Although, the Code of Conduct was implemented since October 12 the people of Dev Bhoomi hardly spoke about their extensive support towards any specific political party. Therefore, stooping to pressure from the party high command of capturing maximum seats in their respective districts, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched silent door-todoor campaign from Tuesday evening, after flurry of political activities came to an end under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure imposed from November 7-10.
BJP booth palaks reached out to each and every house of 68 constituencies across Dev Bhoomi and distributed a well designed and modified voter slips – designed with a lotus symbol and mug shots of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, former chief minister and the CM face of the saffron party Prem Kumar Dhumal, and Union Minister and CEC member Jagat Prakash Nadda.
The pamphlet cum voter slip also contains two-para message, addressed to the voters against the ruling government and prevailing unemployment, mafia issues and corruption. The message also requests the voters to cast their votes for the ‘honest and transparent Modi governance for collective development of the state. The message also includes the information on VVPAT and asks the voters to ensure from the paper trail that their votes being cast for the party contender.
The slip also mentions a one page message of BJP national president Amit Shah, lauding PM Modi’s governance in the last three years, aiming development and its important decisions like demonetization, surgical strike and rolling out of GST. He also expressed gratitude to people for monumental 2014 Lok Sabha elections verdict.
The whisper election campaign was done under the leadership of BJP national general secretary Ram Lal and state incharge Mangal Pandey. It is also being reported that total 30,000 RSS workers are also part of the campaign. Though, the local Sangh leaders claim that it is part of their activity to reach out to every voter, even in the rural sector and to communicate with them.
While, talking to a war room member of BJP, Millennium Post learnt that the party feels the way of campaigning is more effective. However, still the water run deep in the state and people are still silent.
The 50, 25,941 voters across Himachal will decide the fate of 338 candidates, both party candidates and Independents. Of the 7,525 polling booths, 983 have been categorised as sensitive and 399 as hyper-sensitive.
