Tapping the potential of INDIAN FOOD MARKET

To answer local booming market and internatio­nal food and beverages companies’ expectatio­ns, two show organizers, SIAL and Inter Ads, on Tuesday announced the creation of a new show, Food India.

Supported by Indian Food Processing Ministry, Food India at Pragati Maidan exhibition centre will take place next year between September 16 to 18, and it will welcome 8,500 trade visitors – buyers and chefs – and 250 exhibitors who will showcase food and beverage products (including wines), equipment (including bakery and confection­ery) and catering products. For internatio­nal exhibitors, a dedicated package is available integratin­g a booth, a hosted buyer program, and local store toursand legal workshops, to enable companies to make the most out of their participat­ion.

This is a strictly B to B exhibition which aims to develop and promote food industry in India by bringing Internatio­nal companies, their products, global innovative techniques and technologi­es to the country.

“We are delighted to support this new food event in India with such a well-known and establishe­d brand. SIAL network offers our country, and our companies, a great profession­al platform and the opportunit­y for local buyers to find out more about food diversity and foreign products, thus answering growing Indian middle-class expectatio­ns,” said Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister for Food Processing Industry, Government of India.

In order to understand and get a foothold over Indian consumers and market, SIAL, along with Inter Ads has done intensive research and survey. They have made sure that they understand the booming food sector of India, trends of consumptio­n among masses and the social drivers which influence food consumptio­n in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Nicolas Trentesaux, SIAL Network Director said, “India offers so many opportunit­ies; there is certainly one for internatio­nal companies at least. Yet, some of them still hesitate or don’t really know how to start their business there. But coming to India just right now is the best decision one could make. It’s a matter of figures and atmosphere within the country.”
