CBI LIKELY TO QUESTION GGN POLICE SIT OVER SHODDY PROBE
Ever since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) debunked the Gurugram Police's theory that seven-yearold Pradyuman Thakur was murdered by bus conductor Ashok Kumar, questions are being raised on the credibility and integrity of the district police force.
To add to their woes, there is a possibility that CBI may question the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was formulated to probe into the case, the complexities of which has not only shocked the city but the entire country.
Two police officials in the DCP rank and three in the ACP rank were part of the SIT.
A day after Pradyuman's murder, the team had announced that the chargesheet in the case will be filed within a week.
Now, speculations are floating that in order to quickly complete the case, major evidences were overlooked by the SIT.
There are also rumours that 42-year-old Kumar, who earned a meagre Rs 6,000 as a conductor, was wrongly framed so that the high profile people may get away.
Ashok Kumar's legal counsel has already asserted categorically that they will be filing a defamation case against the police force.
While sources claimed that questioning of the SIT will only be restricted to how the officials were able to reach their findings, action could be taken them if they are found to be guilty.
On the other hand, as the clamour for action against senior police officials keeps growing, Haryana Chief Minister M L Khattar has stated that he will wait for the investigation in the case to first get over.
In the line of fire, Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar on Thursday had defended his police team, saying, “I do not have an idea of what the CBI has unearthed in the case.”
“We had carried out investigation at a very early stage and then handed it over investigation to them. I am hopeful they will bring culprits to book and bring justice to the family,” Khirwar added.
On the question of Gurugram Police falsely implicating the bus conductor Kumar in the crime, the top cop had maintained that they were still in the process of investigation and had not filed the chargesheet in the case.
Khirwar also asserted that they were not under any pressure to let off any high profile accused who may be involved in the case.
