NEW DELHI: It was around 6:30 am on Tuesday when the body of a 73-year-old woman was recovered from her house in Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi. Police claimed that they were suspecting that the murder could be the result of the property dispute between the family. Role of insider is also under the investigation.

According to police, the deceased identified as Chandramukhi Gulia, used to live at her house in Savitri Nagar area. The woman lived alone on the first floor of the house whereas her son lives on the third floor of the house with his family. The deceased's family is hailing from Haryana. Police claimed that the things inside the house were scat- tered everywhere and during the investigation, they came to know that there was a property dispute. The family members told

Millennium Post that in the morning the deceased used to tell her son Kuldeep who is a yoga teacher to switch on the water motor before going to his work but on the day of incident she did not call anyone which led to the suspicion. And when Kuldeep went to inquire about his mother the gate was open and the woman was lying on the floor. A PCR call was made in this regard.

“Kuldeep called her mother but no response came after which he went to her room where he saw her mother lying and a cloth was covering her face,” said a relative adding that the hand was also tied.

The deceased's relative Gajendra stated that something might have been cooked as the gas cylinder was on. All the lights were on and the fan was also moving, he added. The house was ransacked.

“She had been living in the house for more than 40 years but she did not rent the house to anyone,” said Gajendra. The second floor of the house had been locked several time.

On the contrary to police version, the family members claimed that there was no dispute on property between the son and the mother as he used to take care of the old woman. The woman is survived by four children, two live in USA and Canada whereas rest of two live in Delhi and Haryana.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal stated that they were probing the case from all angles including burglary, property dispute.

“We are waiting for postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death,” said Biswal. Police sources claimed that the senior police official also wanted to know whether any beat officer visited the house and if there was any complaint regarding the property dispute.
