NEW DELHI: EPCA is all set to make the Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP) more effective with the help of Central Pollution Control Board. Control on the entry of trucks would be the main focus in the amended plan.

Earlier, it has set a deadline of December 2018, for augmenting the service of Metro for carrying more passengers, by procuring more coaches. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s proposal to induct 582 new coaches has been with the Delhi government since May.

To clean the national capital’s air, the EPCA has also set December 2018 as the deadline for the Delhi government to augment the city’s bus fleet to 10,000 in a mega plan, which awaits the Supreme Court’s clearance.

The agency has made a list of priorities where the main focus is regarding the entry of trucks. The other important points would be controlling the vehicular pollution and construction works. The new plan would be tougher and strict than the last one.

The EPCA would submit all the amendments to the Supreme Court as the agency comes under the apex court. According to the sources, the new amendments were done with the consultations of the CPCB.

The experts have noted that the amendments and the new focus areas were necessary.

The ban on entry of trucks reportedly happened for the first time in the city and it had helped to check the pollution.
