There was shock and confusion in the National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar after one of its soldiers shot his wife and sister-in-law and then committed suicide. The deceased has been identified as Jitender Kumar. He committed the act from his service revolver. While Kumar succumbed to the gunshot wounds instantly, his wife Guddan and his sister-in-law Khushboo have been admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram where they are receiving treatment.

The disturbing incident was reported at around 5:30 am on Wednesday at house number-42 where Kumar was staying with his family. It has still not been ascertained that why the soldier took this extreme step. Though there were speculations that he was troubled by domestic issues. The police are now hoping for the two women to get better so that they can provide the real reason for the murderous assault.

Meanwhile, the police have registered the case and begun their investigations. The body has been sent for postmortem. “It will be too early for us to divulge detail in this unfortunate incident. We hope that other two victims are able to recover so that we can come to know about the real reasons behind this extreme step,” said Inspector Dharamveer, who is ACP Manesar. Hailing from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Kumar was earlier with Border Security Force (BSF) and had been deputed in NSG in 2015.

This is not for the first time this year when men in uniform have taken such extreme steps. On November 24 this year, Sant Ram who was an ASI in Haryana police committed suicide by hanging himself.

Earlier in March this year, Inspector Kuldeep Dahiya who was an additional station house officer (SHO) at Sadar shot himself with his service revolver. Dahiya had retired from Indian Airforce and joined the Haryana police.

Domestic troubles had led to death of another police official identified as 46-yearold Inspector Naresh Yadav. Just like Inspector Sant Ram, he also was an ASI who was deputed in Faridabad.

Shockingly, Naresh Yadav was murdered by his 21-yearold son after he was reprimanded to stop his criminal activities.
