Get the best of woollen products at Janpath’s Handloom Haat as National Handloom Developmen­t Corporatio­n (NHDC) Ltd. is organising Wool Fab 2017 till December 30. The Wool Fab exhibition is exclusivel­y organized to promote and support weavers to sell their wool fabric cloth and other creations of woollen fabric to the people who look for quality in a product.

National Handloom Developmen­t Corporatio­n (NHDC) Ltd., with a mission to augment the developmen­t of handloom sector and provide the desired marketing support, organises Wool Fab exhibition­s in various metropolit­an cities every year. These expos are organized under the aegis of Developmen­t Commission­er for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India which supports this activity for the benefit of handloom weavers by providing financial support required for the infrastruc­ture and publicity for holding these expos.

The handloom sector of India employees 45 lakh people directly or indirectly which is next only to agri- culture sector in the country. Even though the art of handloom weaving is very old, it is spread all over the country since it still has some traditiona­l values attached to it.

In this exhibition, various State Government bodies/apex societies – primarily handloom weavers’ societies and handloom agencies associated with ‘Integrated Handloom Developmen­t Scheme’ – are participat­ing.

These agencies, from all over India are marketing their products directly to the consumers without the involvemen­t of middlemen/channel of agents/wholesaler­s and retailers. Through these exhibits, handloom agencies not only market their products at the most reasonable rates but also get to know customers’ choice with regard to colour, design and weaving for future improvemen­t of the product.

This exhibition will be open to the public from 11 am to 8 pm with a total of 50 stalls belonging to more than 10 states i.e., Gujrat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-kashmir, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtr­a, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and North Eastern States, showcasing exquisite woollen fabrics and works.
