NEW DELHI: Four men, including a charted accountant, suspected to be followers of the convicted self-styled godman and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Singh, were arrested for allegedly setting fire to empty coaches in Anand Vihar following his conviction in August, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) said on Wednesday.

On the basis of a tip-off, four men, identified as Vijay Malik, Bir Singh, Kanhaiya Lal Mittal and Harjeet Singh, a charted accountant, were arrested, they added.

RPF Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Shashi Kumar told Millennium Post that the accused had hatched the arson on August 24, at a banquet hall owned by Malik.

They had also taken petrol from a petrol pump in Ghazipur area, Kumar said.

“The accused claimed that they had received the place and during the meeting, they have decided if the decision will go against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief they will commit the crime,” said Kumar.

Some bottles with an inflammable liquid were also found at the spot which indicated it to be the handiwork of some miscreants, RPF said.

The RPF had sought help from the Delhi Police's Special Cell and a joint team of both the units arrested the four accused.

The senior official said they have got some CCTV footages but their vehicle number was not clear.

“With the help of some dump data of some places they came to know about their calls and the arrest was made,” said the official.

On August 25, two train coaches were set on fire and a few buses torched in east Delhi allegedly by supporters of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim after he was convicted in a rape case by a court in Haryana
