- OUR CORRESPONDENT

NEW DELHI: In yet another incident of a Delhi Policeman killing self, a 50-year-old police officer allegedly committed suicide inside a police station in Delhi’s Rohini district late night on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Ramesh Kumar, who is said to have shot himself with his service pistol issued to him. Though no suicide note was found from his possession cops suspected family issues could be one of the reasons for his extreme step. However, only investigation would tell the exact reason, a police officer investigating the case. Kumar was immediately rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was an Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) and posted in South Rohini police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said the incident came to light when Kumar’s body was found on Thursday morning. “It seems he shot himself dead with his pistol in the barrack of the police station. Our team is conducting an inquiry into it,” said Rajneesh Gupta. Ramesh was a native of Bihar and lived with his family at the Police Colony in Narela.

Earlier in October this year, a 29-year-old Delhi Police constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself dead with his service pistol inside the barracks at central Delhi’s Daryaganj police station. He was identified as Amit Khokhar.

Also, in November last month, a 52-year-old Delhi Police officer committed suicide by jumping in front of the metro. The police did recover a suicide note from his possession, which said he ended his life because of illness. ASI Barla, a resident of Uttam Nagar’s Om Vihar, jumped in front of the train metro station.
