Delhi govt launches app for school mgmt committees

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday launched a mobile applicatio­n dedicated to the School Management Committee (SMC), with 16,000 members of the SMCS of all Delhi government school’s in attendance at the IGI Stadium here.

Launching the ‘SMC App’, Kejriwal said would help in transformi­ng the environmen­t of the education.

“This app will help schools, parents and students for better coordinati­on and resultorie­nted performanc­e. It is certainly going to help SMC functionar­ies for effective delivery and will decrease paper work and bring efforts at an ease,” said the CM.

Kejriwal further said that “upgrading education is the main priority of my government and for that we are working constantly for launching various schemes and policies.”

“We have done an experiment towards democratiz­ation of school education system in Delhi. Our effort is to make SMC members realise that they are owners of the schools and will contribute their services for betterment of quality of education in schools,” he said.

The Chief Minister stressed upon the need for effectivel­y implementi­ng the SMC App, adding that decisions of the SMCS should be made binding upon the schools.

He also said that SMCS should be given some funds to carry out essential and needbased works in schools, apart from having the power to fill up vacant posts of teachers in the schools on emergent and on hiring basis.

Among other dignitarie­s at the launch were Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi Social Welfare Minister, Rajendra Pal Gautam, Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, Education Secretary Punya S Srivastava and Higher Education Director Garima Gupta.

Zonal coordinato­rs of SMCS and head of Schools were also present at the launch.
