Heroin worth crores seized, two arrested

NEW DELHI: A team of Special cell Southern Range has busted an Internatio­nal drug cartel by arresting two key members of cartel.

Both the arrestees have been identified as Ravi Shankar alias Ravi Arora, 50, and Vikasalias Bhola, 30, both residents of Hoshiarpur Punjab. They were arrested on outer Ring Road near Sherawala Gurudwara, New Mahavir Singh, Delhi.

Police also recovered three and a half kilograms of high grade heroin worth Rs. 15 crore in the internatio­nal market from them. Apart from Indians, persons of Afghanista­n and African origin are also part of said drug cartel, police claimed.

On December 27, a specific informatio­n was received in Special Cell that two members of this cartel namely Ravishanka­r and Vikas who used to deal in supply of heroin in Delhi from a person of African origin would come between 12 noon to 1 pm near Sherawala Gurudwara at New Mahavir Nagar, Vikaspuri, Delhi on Outer Ring Road. Both were arrested the same night.

During interrogat­ion both reportedly disclosed details of their associates including source of supply.

It was found that they used to get supply of heroin from persons of Nigerian origin residing in the area of New Mahavir Nagar, Delhi.

“They also disclosed that these African used to get supply of heroin directly from their counterpar­ts in neighbouri­ng countries. The couriers from neighbouri­ng countries used to bring heroin in their stomachs by inhaling capsules of heroin.

“These couriers then handed over to these Africans, which was being further supplied to drug dealers in Delhi, UP, Punjab and Haryana.” said DCP (Special Cell) PS Kushwah.

These Africans also sent consignmen­ts to Europe, Africa and other countries. Supplier of heroin in this case has been identified. He was introduced to Ravi Shankar by a fellow Nigerian woman, who is lodged in Kapurthala Jail, where Ravi Shankar was also undergoing imprisonme­nt.
