Deceased’s phone helps police nab murderer

NEW DELHI: A man who killed an electricia­n by beating him with the bricks when he was sleeping, was arrested from Bihar. Police claimed that for tracing him they contacted Indian Railway to establish that movement of the mobile phone of deceased.

According to police, the accused was identified as Prabhakar Thakur, an illiterate who came to Delhi from Bihar in search of work three months ago. Police claimed that on December 27, the deceased Gaurav was found murdered in Uttam Nagar area. Injuries were also visible on his head. A team was formed of police station Uttam Nagar and Special Staff led by SI Naveen. The team was formed Aditya Gautam, Acp/operations/ Dwarka District, and Vikram Singh, Acp/dabri.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (Dwarka) Sibhesh Singh stated that during the course of the investigat­ion. Upon checking the mobile phone of deceased Gaurav was found to be on. The location of mobile phone was followed and it was found that it was going towards Bihar along with railway track. “Indian Railway was contacted in this regard and it was establishe­d that movement of the mobile phone of deceased. Thereafter, a team of police staff was immediatel­y sent to Patna. The team reached Danapur Railway Station before the arrival of Seemanchal Express and coordinate­d with the railway police,” said DCP.

Police further claimed that joint team of Delhi Police and Railway Police tried to locate culprit Prabhakar Thakur at Danapur Station but due to two-minute stoppage of the train, he could not be apprehende­d. Thereafter, the staff again followed the culprit by tracking the mobile phone and finally nabbed the accused at Village Khanjarpur.

On sustained interrogat­ion, accused Prabhakar Thakur he had come to know that Gaurav has received approx Rs 10,000 for his wages as the electricia­n and he was leaving for his village next day. So he decided to kill Gaurav to get his money. NEW DELHI: A team of Special Staff of Rohini District, Delhi, arrested one criminal Rohit Chauhan who was wanted in a sensationa­l kidnapping for ransom case of Alipur. A reward of Rs 25,000 on the arrest of accused was also declared.

On 29 August, an informatio­n was received by cops that a car driver along with his car was kidnapped from GTK Road near Singhu Border. A team consisting of staff of Alipur started searching the car. The vehicle was traced near Shiv Mandir, Bakhtawarp­ur. On seeing the police party, the abductors tried to flee. “One of the abductors even fired shot towards the police party and fled away, while another pointed his pistol towards the police and the family members of the victim. Police had to fire at him,” said DCP Rohini Rajneesh Gupta. After a chase, police was able to arrest two persons while other three managed to escape. Among these three persons, two persons were yet to be arrested. Rohit was arrested on January 3.

“Rohit Chauhan, is a resident of Gautam Budh Nagar Noida. He used to have a mobile shop in which he incurred losses. He was under heavy debt and wanted to recover. He along with his associates planned to kidnap businessma­n for demand of ransom,” said the DCP.
