CBI claim of new documents against Jain lies: Delhi govt

- ROUSHAN ALI

NEW DELHI: Sources in the Delhi government said that Health Minister Satyendar Jain never met Delhi Dental Council (DDC) Registrar Rishiraj and that CBI'S claims of recovering property documents and bank deposit slips linked to Jain from Rishiraj's residence are ‘lies', as these papers were already in the agency's possession.

They claimed that the documents, including property papers and cheque books, were taken away by the agency sleuths during a raid at the Delhi minister's official residence on August 25 last year.

“The CBI should tell what new discovery it has made and how the documents it seized and showed in its seizure memo of August 25 raid at the Jain's residence were found at Rishiraj's premises who was unknown to the minister,” one of the sources said.

The CBI on Sunday claimed that it had recovered property documents and bank deposit slips of about Rs 2 crore allegedly linked to Jain and companies where he was a director during the searches at the residence of Rishiraj.

“The properties in question were already disclosed by Jain in his election affidavit as well his tax returns, and the related documents were taken by the CBI in last year's raid at his residence. His transactions were also clean as no cash was involved and all of it were through cheques with no involvement of any strange account,” the source claimed.

“They have already questioned him several times and have already taken all the documents and their fresh claims are a farce,” the source added.

Jain is already facing corruption and money laundering charges in at least three cases.

Ahead of the civic polls in Delhi, the CBI had registered a preliminary inquiry against Jain in connection with a money laundering case.
