CM MEETS ANKIT’S FAMILY

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday visited the family of Ankit Saxena, the 23-year-old photograph­er was murdered on Thursday in west Delhi, and assured them that stern action would be taken against the accused.

Saxena was killed last Thursday night, allegedly by family members of a woman with whom he had been in a relationsh­ip for three years.

The woman’s family reportedly opposed her relationsh­ip with Ankit, as the two belonged to different communitie­s.

Delhi Police have arrested the woman’s father, mother and uncle in connection with Ankit’s murder.

Earlier, the Delhi government had assured his family that it would make all possible efforts to ensure they get justice.

“Spoke to the father of Ankit. Whatever happened, has to be condemned more. Delhi government will have the biggest advocate to get justice for Ankit. We will make all possible efforts to get punishment for the guilty. May God grant solace to Ankit’s family. We are with them in this struggle,” Kejriwal had tweeted on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a CCTV footage reportedly showing Ankit talking on his mobile phone was released on Monday. The visuals, recorded in a busy road in west Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar, show Ankit in a black jacket.

Ever since Ankit’s murder, security in Raghubir Nagar has remained heightened. Police personnel, from different police stations, have been surveillin­g parks and streets in the neighbourh­ood, a keeping a tab on the situation.

The 23-year-old was killed in the busy market of Raghubir Nagar’s Khayala area.

Police had, on Friday last, nabbed four persons of his girlfriend’s family, including her mother. Law enforcemen­t officials had said that the reason behind the murder was the relationsh­ip between Ankit and the 20-year-old woman.
