- ROUSHAN ALI

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Ambedkar Nagar constituency Ajay Dutt on Tuesday filed a police complaint against Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash for making “casteist remarks” during a meeting on Monday night at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence here.

In the complaint, Dutt accused the top bureaucrat of “misbehaviour” and hurling casteist remarks at him.

Dutt said Prakash questioned his status when he raised the issue of residents of his constituency Ambedkar Nagar (Reserved) not getting ration items on time.

AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal added that Prakash’s temper was high and that he said “you are not fit to be MLA, I will only reply to LG.”

“We have lodged a complaint with SC/ST Commission against the casteist comments made by the Chief Secretary,” Jarwal said.

“We had asked him about an area where people were not getting basic facilities like medicine, and he suddenly shouted ‘maine Daliton ki thekedaari nahi le rakhi hai’,” the MLA

from Deoli added.

In his complaint, Dutt wrote, “(Chief Secretary) said you be within your limits... you have no right to question me. He used abusive language and moved out of the room.”

On Tuesday, AAP leaders Ashish Khetan and Delhi Minister Imran Hussain also filed police complaints that following the Monday night meeting, they were heckled and manhandled and AAP volunteers thrashed by “motivated elements” masquerading as Delhi government employees.

AAP also shared a video on its Twitter handle, showing the commotion while Khetan was entering the Delhi Secretariat.

The party said Khetan was “assaulted” by the mob, after which he reported it to the police.

“There was a mob, unruly and aggressive. They ran towards me shouting pro-bjp slogans... my staff has been hurt,” said Khetan, adding that a complaint has been lodged at Daryaganj police station.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from the LG in the case.

Singh took to Twitter to say that justice will be done in the case. “The MHA has sought a report on the incident from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Justice will be done. A delegation of IAS DANICS and Subordinate Services of Delhi Government met me today and apprised me of the prevailing situation,” he tweeted.
