- ABHAY SINGH

NEW DELHI: The residents of Trilokpuri area started their work amid heightened security after the Tuesday night clash injuring more than five persons including policemen. Delhi Police claimed that some miscreants tried to give the clash a communal color but it was averted by the quick response. Shops were opened in Block 27 and 28 in the area but not like other days police presence was there.

“There was Tuesday market in the area when some persons started pelting the stone on each other; we don’t know what was the reason, there were several innocent people in the market who have suffered injuries,” said Waseem, a resident of the area.

Deepak Kumar, another resident of the area, sustained injury in the leg from the stone which was pelted during the clash. “Around 9:20 pm, a mob came out and started pelting stones on each other ;we went there with the police personnel to pacify crowd but they started pelting the stones and tried to set a motorcycle on fire but this did not happen due to police proactive effort,” said Kumar. Bricks were seen lying on the road.

“In Trilokpuri, clashes did not need any big reason, petty issue like not giving way to vehicles can create the riot and like everywhere there are miscreants in the area who want clashes to happen,” said Hansraj, another resident.

Meanwhile, the residents also claimed that on Tuesday night there was marriage function in the area and groom and his family members had come to the area; suddenly clash started and they were all evacuated by the Mus- lims family. “There were around 60 persons including groom relatives and friends, we evacuated them by giving shelter in our house,” said Sehzada, a resident of the area. His sister claimed that clashes continued in the area. We shut the main door of the area to protect them from the stone pelting,” said Sehzadi.

DCP (East) Ombir Singh with his additional DCPS was present at the spot. He told Millennium Post that they have detained few persons in this regard and are questioning them. “There is peace in the area,” said the DCP. A senior official said that they are probing the reason behind the incident. “There was a rumour that a boy was beaten to death by another community later during the investigation we found that the boy was alive we are investigating it,” said the official. Meanwhile, police have scanned the CCTV footages of the area in which they have identified some persons involved in the stone pelting.
