Hussain meets LG; BJP, Cong demand probe
NEW DELHI: Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain, who was allegedly manhandled by a crowd at the Secretariat here, will on Wednesday evening meet Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, under whose jurisdiction Delhi Police falls. "I have urged LG Baijal what happened with us inside secretariate and also urged for immediate inquiry on the issue," said Hussain.
An FIR was registered after the Minister complained of manhandling afternoon outside the lift door at the Delhi Secretariat while his Assistant Personal Secretary was beaten up, as per video clips available from the spot. The crowd reportedly consisted of Delhi government employees protesting against an alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two Aam Aadmi Party MLAS at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence here on Monday night.
Meanwhile, the AAP leaders slammed the Delhi Police for not arresting anyone in the case of assault of Hussain and senior leader Asish Khaitan. “We have the video footage of what happened at Delhi Secretariat yesterday (Tuesday) when our Minister and his Personal Secretary were attacked by a mob that was incited by the BJP but nothing has been done about it.words of the Chief Secretary are being treated as gospel truth,” said AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. He alleged that provocative speeches were given outside the Delhi Secretariat that led to the commotion and beating up of Minister Imran Hussain and his Personal Secretary Himanshu Singh.
He said under the BJP'S rule in various states, Dalits and Muslims were victims of communal violence. The Chief Secretary, who has alleged that AAP MLAS assaulted him in the presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal late on Monday, would have called the police immediately after the incident if he was actually assaulted, the AAP leader said.
Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta along with BJP MLAS on Wednesday called upon LG and demanded strong police action against CM, Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia for their connivance in the assault on Chief Secretary, Anshu Prakash. A team of Delhi Pradesh Congress led by Ajay Maken and former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit also met LG and demanded probe into the matter.
