Ration through POS: Sisodia directs CS, officers to conduct an enquiry
NEW DELHI: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said here on Tuesday that Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has "done nothing" over the past one week to resolve the problems faced in the delivery of ration in the city.
Addressing the media after a cabinet meeting, Sisodia said that during the last cabinet meeting the Chief Secretary was asked to inquire into violations in the implementation of the POS system in the delivery of ration and also present a proposal on door-step delivery of ration in the next cabinet meeting. "The CS has done nothing in these two matters in the past one week," Sisodia said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Chief Secretary has been asked to finish the inquiry in two weeks' time. The Budget Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will be held from March 16-28, the Delhi Cabinet decided on Tuesday. This was the first official meeting attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash after their controversial midnight meeting at the former's residence. Finance Secretary SN Sahay and GAD Secretary MK Parida also attended the meeting. "The Budget Session will commence from March 16 and conclude on March 28," a Delhi government spokesperson said.
Ahead of the Cabinet meeting, Prakash had written to Kejriwal, informing him that he would attend the meeting, based on the assumption that the chief minister will ensure that there is no physical attack and verbal assault on the officers. This is the first meeting of the chief secretary with Kejriwal since the alleged assault on him by some AAP MLAS at the chief minister's residence on February 19.
In his letter, Prakash said, "A meeting of the Council of Ministers has been scheduled (today) to discuss important matters of finalisation of dates for the Budget Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly." "Since finalising the dates of the Budget Session and passing of the budget are important for the functioning of government, I along with officers concerned, will be attending the meeting," he said.
