IAS officers making political statements against rules: AAP
NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday accused IAS officers of giving political statements, and questioned the IAS Officers Association about it, citing the service rules.
AAP spokesperson Ashutosh demanded a lawsuit against IAS officials for violating the service code rules, saying that the work atmosphere is being deliberately pulled down by senior officials.
Condemning this act, he said, “This is a major conspiracy by the bureaucrats of Delhi government,” pointing out that police has still not taken any action against the complaint of assault of Delhi Environment minister Imran Hussain.
Ashutosh alleged that under the service code rules, it is clear that government officials cannot make any political statements, nor can they join any activity like strike or protest.
"But the officials are breaking that rule and continuously attacking the government through press conferences and social media," said the AAP leader.
On Tuesday, party spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj had said that AAP would seek charges of criminal conspiracy against the Chief Secretary, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and office bearers of the IAS Officers Association.
He further said that the party received a major boost on Tuesday, after the Tis Hazari Court ordered that all CCTV footage from all cameras in Delhi Secretariat, where Hussain was assaulted by a mob, be preserved.
The AAP said that on March 1, the next date of hearing in the Secretariat assault case, it will press criminal charges against the alleged "conspirators" under section 120b of the Indian Penal Code.
