Traffickin­g survivors to get help from concerned State Bhawans

NEW DELHI: Whether it is human traffickin­g survivors, family members of victims or the state police, they will now get the help from the State Bhawans in the national capital. The newly-formed guidelines prepared by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) claimed that in case a child victim of traffickin­g is rescued and is brought to the State Bhawan, the representa­tive there should make him or her comfortabl­e and facilitate accommodat­ion to the victim and his or her family. The accompanyi­ng investigat­ion personnel will also will also get help. In case of non-availabili­ty of rooms, the representa­tive should co-ordinate with designated authority of other State Bhawans for providing accommodat­ion till the process of repatriati­on of the minor.

According to child rights body, traffickin­g of children runs through an organized network. Children and their families are often lured by the promise of better employment and a more prosperous life far from their homes. Others are kidnapped and sold. Traflicked children are forced into for prostituti­on and forced marriages. They are also illegally adopted or used as cheap or unpaid labour. They are subjected to sexual exploitati­on, begging and organ harvesting. Some children are recruited into armed groups or other crime mafias. Traffickin­g exposes children to violence, abuse, neglect and exploitati­on.

Yashwant Jain, member NCPCR claimed that after the child belonging to other states are rescued in Delhi, the concerned State Resident Commission­s may be approached for repatriati­on of the child to his or her home state. "ln order to streamline the procedure, we decided to frame guidelines to be followed by the Resident Commission­ers of State Bhawans for post-rescue repatriati­on of traffickin­g survivors, "said Jain.
