NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government is all set to submit the notification for the 351 roads in the national Capital to the Supreme Court this week, while the delegation of all parties is also likely to meet the Monitoring Committee, appointed by the apex court, on Monday.

The party had earlier stated that the government has received the files from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). “We are all set with the notification of the 351 roads and will send the file to the Supreme Court,” said a leader of the ruling AAP.

He added, “We have earlier informed that no sealing has taken place on these roads. But the BJP was making it an issue..

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, during his speech in the Delhi Assembly last Friday, termed the ongoing sealing drive as a “dangerous attack” on Delhi’s traders and said that an all party-delegation, including his Cabinet colleagues, would meet the Sc-appointed Committee to resolve the issue.

Last Friday, the Delhi Assembly passed a resolution asking the Centre to take steps to stop sealing in the Capital, with the CM also seeking a moratorium on the drive to provide a relief to the traders.

The resolution, moved by AAP MLA Sourabh Bharadwaj, stated that the ‘unjustified’ sealing is a direct consequence of the “negligence and inefficiency” of the DDA and the Municipal Corporations.

“The ongoing sealing drive in various markets has wreaked havoc among the traders and left thousands of workers unemployed. Sealing should be immediately stopped. Deseal the already sealed shops,” the resolution, passed by voice vote, stated.

The resolution further stated that the Centre should take all possible steps, including bringing a new bill or amending existing laws, in the ongoing Budget session of Parliament to halt sealing with immediate effect.

The Delhi government has also urged for a deadline from the Monitoring Committee for the sealing drive. The Committee members informed that they have received the letter that an all-party delegation wants a meeting with them and the meeting is likely to be held on Monday.
