NIGERIAN AMONG FOUR OTHERS HELD FOR DRUG TRAFFICKIN­G

NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch of Delhi police has arrested five persons in four different cases registered under NDPS Act.

The Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch of Delhi police busted an interstate gang of drug peddlers and recovered high quality heroin, cocaine and ganja.

On March 14, a person Shakil was apprehende­d from Chand Bagh, Bhajanpura, by the team members of Crime Branch and 260 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of Shakil. A case under Section 21 of the Act was registered at Crime Branch.

During investigat­ion, the supplier, Safi, was also arrested from Chand Bagh area and 100 gram of heroin was recovered from his possession.

“On March 17, one Ifeanyi hailing from Nigeria was apprehende­d from Vasant Kunj by the team of Inspector Sanjay Neolia and 50 gram of cocaine was recovered from his possession,” said Alok Kumar, Joint CP (Crime).

The police then arrested Ravi Kumar on March 19 from Uttam Nagar and one Kg of heroin was recovered from his possession.

On 19 March, on a specific input received by the crime branch team, a trap was laid near Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. One Ansalam was apprehende­d and 65 kg marijuana was recovered from his possession.

Ifeanyi is a Nigerian national and his father used to run shoes sale-purchase business in Nigeria and his mother was a housewife.

He used to purchase shoes from INA Market and Mumbai and send them to his father for sale in Nigeria. After 9 months of stay, he returned to Nigeria. In February 2014, he again came back and started sending shoes to his father after purchasing it from INA, Delhi.

He incurred losses in the business and started facing financial crisis. He then came in contact with one Steve in Vasant Kunj area and started supplying cocaine after procuring it from Steve.
