Claims of eco paper leak spread panic, CBSE denies

-

NEW DELHI: Panic gripped students of class XII following claims on social media that the economics paper was leaked on Monday ahead of the exam even as CBSE denied there was any slip up. Reports of the question paper being leaked circulated through social media and Whatsapp several hours before the paper commenced .

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), however, denied any leak and urged students and parents not to panic. "We have checked with all examination centres and the paper was not leaked. The source of the circulation of this information is not known yet. We want to urge the students and parents to not panic and assure them that the board is doing its best to ensure sanctity of the examination," a senior CBSE official said.

A similar incident occurred on March 15 when Delhi Government had said that it had received complaints of class 12 CBSE accountancy paper being leaked following which a probe was ordered, even as the board had denied any leak. "There has been no leakage of the question paper. All the seals have been found intact at all exam centres. However, at local level, some miscreants may have circulated messages through Whatsapp and other social media platforms to hurt the sanctity of the exam," the board had said. COIMBATORE: With just four days left for the Centre to set up the Cauvery Management Board, ruling AIADMK on Monday said it would decide on the future course of action if government failed to do so.

"AIADMK hopes that the Centre will constitute the Cauvery Management Board in the remaining four days... we will decide the future course of action if the union government fails to do so," Chief Minister K Palaniswami said at a function at Thondamuthur, where Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam was also present.

Following the February 16 final verdict of the Supreme Court on the vexed Cauvery river dispute, the ruling AIADMK and opposition parties, including DMK, have been urging the Centre to constitute CMB and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) within six weeks from that day to ensure the state received its due share of water from the inter-state river. The Chief Minister took a dig at arch rival DMK, saying their dreams of 'toppling' the AIADMK government would never materialise. The DMK'S sole aim was to capture power both at the state and the centre and not the people's welfare, he said. Panneerselvam also spoke along similar lines, hitting out at those who deserted the party, saying they were left with just a few cadres.

None could touch AIADMK, founded by party founder M G Ramachandran and 'strengthened like a fort' by the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and which had got the party symbol of two leaves and flag. Earlier, the CM inaugurated an integrated drinking water supply project benefiting nearly two lakh people.
