Tetra wireless sets soon for patrolling teams
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police patrolling team will get Tetra wireless set to receive information about the crimes in their districts. The police claimed that the move will help tackle street crimes in the city. Police sources told the Millen
nium Post that the initiative will start in the Central Delhi where the patrolling team of the police stations will get the wireless sets. The team consists of armed policemen on motorcycles. The central district police will soon distribute 15 Tetra wireless sets to the team through which they will be connected with senior police officers and will be able to know about the crimes happening in their district.
The Tetra wireless sets are being used by senior officers in Delhi Police and the beatlevel police personnel have beat wireless sets, which do not receive information about crimes in other areas and it takes a long process to inform the beat staff, who are on the patrolling duty in other areas.
“With the new wireless system, the patrolling team will be able to know the crimes happening in other areas and senior officers can coordinate directly with the patrolling team,” said a police source. The alertness of the patrolling teams will be checked by the senior officers through the new wireless sets. “If senior officers are on the round of the district, they can check the place where patrolling is being done by asking through the set,” said a police officer.
A police officer stated that if any snatching happens in the area like Patel Nagar, the patrolling team in nearby areas will soon be informed and they can encircle the suspected areas from where the snatcher can try to flee. There are more chances that the criminal can be caught if proper coordination is maintained with the patrolling team. “The patrolling team with the new system will operate from April this year,” said a police official.
Police sources said that senior officers have told the beat staff to visit the houses in their area and when they find any unattended motorcycle, they should ask the details about the motorcycle from the local residents. “The police team should check the papers of the motorcycles and also inform them about the safety and security of the area,” police sources claimed.
