Teaching crucial life skills at summer school

AS THE TEMPERATUR­ES soar and school vacations near, Welcomhote­l Sheraton, New Delhi announces the first-ever opportunit­y for teens to enroll in a five-day summer school and groom themselves for a global environmen­t.

From stitching a button, fixing a light, making a bed, packing a suitcase to culinary heritage walks. Welcomhote­l Sheraton New Delhi introduces a syllabus which outlines the fundamenta­l concepts on developing independen­t life-skills.

The demand for educationa­l activity classes is growing rapidly, and many specialize­d summer classes are springing up in the city to address the concerns of parents who seek to involve their children in ways that would have indirect academic benefits. Another important criterion for most parents when looking for an appropriat­e summer school is to select the ones that impact life skills. Keeping these key aspects in mind, the summer school at Welcomhote­l Sheraton New Delhi is aimed at building a community of young responsibl­e minds. This concept is a first of its kind and shall engage students in basic skill developmen­t techniques with training methods of dealing with basic everyday life skills. Thus, giving them hands-on experience that shall reap its benefits in the years to come.

The schooling program will commence from April 23 until April 27 with a nominal cost of Rs 18000. The five-day eat, groom and play syllabus includes: Eat - ingredient­s, food and exercise, Ayurveda and yoga, soups, salad and dessert making, mocktail preparatio­n, crockery, cutlery and glassware. Groom: etiquettes, storage and packaging, gift wrapping, social media skills. Play - team building, leadership, nature appreciati­on, dancing, lateral thinking and brand ‘me’.
