Bike-borne duo robs accountant of 8.2 lakh in Noida Sec-18

NOIDA: Another robbery occurred in Noida’s posh sector 18 market on Wednesday afternoon in which two unidentifi­ed bike-borne assailants snatched a bag containing around Rs 8.20 lakhs from a 27-year-old accountant of a private company.

Shockingly, the snatching was done at the same place and outside the same bank where another incident was reported earlier in the month.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Bipin Roy, an accountant with a software company EBIX Software Pvt Ltd in sector 82 of Noida. Roy was talking on phone and was waiting for cab outside the ICICI bank of sector 18. He also received minor injuries in his hand after he was pushed away by robbers as he tried to resist the robbery attempt.

The miscreants traveling on a motorcycle easily escaped from the spot after snatching the bag while Roy was waiting for his cab after withdrawin­g the cash from company’s account.

“The incident took place at around 12:30 pm, when Roy was talking on phone and holding the cash bag in another hand. Two bike-borne criminals reached there and snatched the bag. However, when he tried to resist the attempt, he was pushed away and the criminals fled from the spot,” said Arun Kumar Singh, Superinten­dent of Police, Noida.

Locals informed the police about the incident and senior police officials reached the spot and launched an investigat­ion.

“We have registered a case under the relevant sections of loot and robbery. Teams have been constitute­d to nab the accused persons and we are inspecting the CCTV footages of the nearby areas,” added Singh. GHAZIABAD: In yet another encounter in Uttar Pradesh, the Ghaziabad police on late Tuesday night arrested a dreaded criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The criminal has received bullet Injuries in his right leg in retaliator­y firing and has been admitted to the hospital, said police.

According to the police, the arrested criminal has been identified as Tauseef (32).

A number of cases, including murder, loot and extortion, were registered against him in various police stations of Bulandshah­r and nearby districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, circle officer, Ghaziabad, said, “We received a tip-off that two persons, with an intention to commit a robbery, are coming here. Police teams were deployed in the area to undertake vehicle checking. At around 12:15 am, the police spotted two suspects traveling on a motorcycle and signaled them to stop.”

“Instead of stopping, they tried to run away. Police chased them and signaled to stop. Instead of stopping, they opened fire on the cops. The police had to make retaliator­y firing in which one of the criminal got bullet injury while the other somehow managed to flee,” he added.

Chauhan further said that Tauseef was wanted in a number of cases of murder and loot in Auriya district.

He was first booked in an attempt-to-murder case in 2009 for which he was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonme­nt.

However, Tauseef got bail from the high court after a few months of the imprisonme­nt.

Since then, he was involved in several loots and other heinous crimes. In 2017, police had declared a reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest.

Police have seized a TVS Apache motorcycle and a country made pistol from the possession of the criminal.
