A 17-year-girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men at gunpoint in Ghaziabad’s Bhojpur area, police said on Sunday.

According to police, the victim, in her complaint, stated that on the intervening night of April 19 and 20, the accused Amir, Adil and Ziaul barged into her house, while she was sleeping in the yard beside her sister-in-law.

“The trio abducted and took her to a vacant plot in the village, stuffed a cloth in her mouth and took turns to rape her at gun point. She was then thrown near her house in an unconscious state and threatened with dire consequences if she told anyone about it,” said Arvind Maurya, Superintendent of Police (Rural, Ghaziabad).

However, the girl managed to reach home and narrated the ordeal to her sister-in-law.

“On the basis of the complaint filed by the girl’s family, we have registered an FIR against the three accused under Section 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act. We are also crossverifying the claims made by the victim,” added Maurya.

Police said that the victim denied a medical checkup, while sources revealed that the two parties have old enmity.

“Based on investigation, it was revealed that the victim’s brother was earlier booked for raping accused Amir’s sister, on the pretext of marrying her. The woman later committed suicide and the accused served a jail term,” said a senior police officer.
