Doctor shot At In Fatehpur BERI, Cops suspect property Dispute

NEW DELHI: The Gadaipur area of South Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri on Sunday witnessed a shooting on Sunday, where more than 22 rounds firing between a doctor and some armed assailants, during which the doctor was injured and later hospitalis­ed. The victim suspects that his brothers were behind the incident.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (South) Romil Baaniya stated that on April 29 at 1.05 am, a PCR call regarding firing in Gadaipur was received.

A police team immediatel­y rushed to the spot where they found the victim, identified as Dr Hans Nagar. He told the policemen that he received gunshot injuries when he was attacked by 3-4 people.

“He suspected that two of his brothers (John and Ron) and four others were behind the attack,” said Baaniya.

The senior policeman further stated that there is a long-standing property dispute between the victim and his brothers over a property in Gurugram.

Nagar is under treatment and is reported to be conscious and stable.

Police claimed that the victim stated that he had also retaliated by firing 12-13 rounds from his licensed pistol in which he believes that 1-2 attackers have got injured.

“As many as 22 empty cartridges and 2 live rounds of 9 mm and .0.32 bore have been found at the spot,” said the police officer.

Legal action under section 307, 120B and 34 of IPC, and sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act are being taken on the statement of Dr Nagar at police station Fatehpur Beri.

Cops are questionin­g some suspects in this regard to get the further clue in the case.

The Delhi Police data regarding the motives behind the murder in the year 2017 revealed that 18.61 percent of cases were because of sudden provocatio­n whereas 46.54 percent of murder was due to enmity or dispute, 9.74 percent murders were passion related. Only 10.82 percent murders were crime related. In 2017, 87.44 percent of murder cases were solved by city police and 753 accused were arrested until 15 November. In 2016 around 74.89 percent of murder cases were solved and 835 accused were arrested.

Recently, two brothers and the wife of one of them were killed in an alleged dispute over parking in North-west Delhi’s Model Town area on Thursday night. Police suspect a property dispute between the brothers as the reason for the murders.
