No jurisdiction, policemen patrol in all North East areas

To enhance the police presence and tackle the crime in the North East district, a police team is patrolling in all the areas as the policemen now do not need any jurisdiction. Police claimed that it will show the police presence in and also help curb the crime.

According to police, the North East district has formed a team of 25-30 policemen who are from different police stations, have been given the power to patrol all the areas of North East Delhi. "It means that the policeman from other jurisdiction can raid on the area of other police station if he received any information about illegal activity," said the police officer.

The team which has been named as ‘District patrolling team', is being monitored by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Atul Kumar Thakur who himself reviews the report of patrolling team every day. "The team is headed by Inspector rank officer and, the policemen check every single area of the district in vehicles," said Atul Kumar Thakur.

When asked what was the reason for forming the District Patrolling team, the DCP stated that it would enhance the police presence in the area and will send the message to all the criminals.

Police sources claimed that time to time allegations have been made on the police that they know the illegal activity going in the area but do not take action. "It will not be the same policeman of the area during raids the faces will be different and there will be no chances that the criminals will get any chance to escape," said the police source.
