14-year-old sets herself on fire AFTER BEING RAPED, DIES

GURUGRAM: Not even a week has passed since a minor committed suicide after being abducted and gangraped in Mewat.

In a new case, a minor has committed suicide after being raped by her neighbour in Faridabad, police said on Thursday.

She was also threatened not to report the matter to anyone.

Heartbroken, the 14-yearold set herself on fire. On Wednesday, she succumbed to her burn injuries at the Safadarjung hospital where she was admitted. In a sheer irony, her tormentor, identified as Amit, is also a teenager.

The accused, a factory worker, hails from UP'S Bareilly and lives in a rented accommodation in Faridabad. He was arrested from a hideout on Wednesday. He will be produced in the court on Thursday.

The girl's family hails from Bihar's Arwal area and lived on rent here. Her mother worked as a helper at a private company and the girl was studying in Class IX.

In the FIR, her injuries are described as “superficial to deep burn, present all over the body, with peeling of skin… approximately 90-95% of burn wounds”.

“The post-mortem was conducted on Wednesday, and the body was handed over to her family,” said inspector Rajender Singh, SHO of Mujesar police station, where a case has been registered under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide) and the POCSO Act against the accused.
