UP ministers hold meeting with civic agencies

GREATER NOIDA: A meeting headed by Minister of Industrial Developmen­t of Uttar Pradesh, Satish Mahana and Excise Minister, Jai Pratap Singh with senior officials of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority was held on Thursday.

Officials said that the meeting was held to review the infra structural projects undergoing under these three authoritie­s.

According to a senior official of Noida Authority, the review meeting took place at an auditorium of Gautam Budh Nagar University, where the ministers asked the three authoritie­s to work into the five areas of urban and rural transforma­tion including road, water, sewage, health and waste management.

“The ministers directed the officials to make the Noida roads free from traffic problems, in the peak hours as the commuters remain stuck on the roads for a long time. They ordered to make a proper action plan to make the city road free from traffic congestion,” said the official.

He further said that ministers asked Noida Authority to take action on the encroachme­nt done on the roads because the encroachme­nt has become a serious issue leading to traffic congestion. NEW DELHI: South Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n (SDMC) on Thursday continued its anti-encroachme­nt drive, this time in the West Zone, as encroachme­nt removal action was undertaken at KG-1 Block in Tilak Nagar Market and from Raja Garden– Basai Darapur Chowk to Janakpuri East Metro Station.

As many as 26 four-wheelers and four handheld carts were seized by SDMC authoritie­s, while 17 shops and 63 semi-permanent structures were demolished with the help of bulldozers.

Nine other structures, khokhas and illegal shops were also demolished.

Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police challaned nine vehicles for various violations of traffic rules.

In Najafgarh Zone, action was taken at many places, from Shakuntala Nursing Home to Gandhi Chowk, Nallah Road Sagarpur.

During the action, encroachme­nts on both sides of the four km Nallah Road were removed.

Fruit and vegetable mandis were functionin­g along this road. About 3,000 sq feet of encroached govt land has been vacated.
