On Sunday, the robbers struck two houses in two different posh colonies of Greater Noida.

In first incident, robbers barged into the bungalow of an IAS officer, posted in Greater Noida authority, on late Sunday night in officers' colony of Greater Noida. The robbers locked the family members, who were sleeping, inside a room and fled away with Rs 5,000 cash and jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh.

According to police, the incident took place in officers' colony in sector Gama-i of Greater Noida on late Sunday night.

As per the complaint received by the police, IAS Vibha Chahal, an officer on special duty with Greater Noida authority, was sleeping in one of the rooms of her house along with her family. The robbers managed to sneak into the house, locked the room in which the family was sleeping from outside and fled with jewellery and cash.

Shockingly the bungalow of the IAS officer is located next to the house of Superintendent of Police, Greater noida. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

"Based on the complaint received, a case has been registered at Kasana police station and investigations are underway. We are looking into the CCTV footages to record the movement of any suspicious persons near the house. Moreover, we are also questioning the guards deployed outside the house and are expecting to reach the criminals soon," said Amit Kishor Shrivastava, Circle Officer-i, Greater Noida.

In another incident that took place on Sunday evening, the robbers burgled an NRI doctor's house in posh AWHO society of Greater Noida and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh.

The police said that the doctor is settled abroad. However, his sister lives in the flat in AWHO society.

The doctor's sister had gone out of the home when the incident took place. As she came back, she found the lock of the main gate and the cupboard open and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh missing. She told the police that a duplicate key of the flat has also been provided to the maid so that she can do the cleaning work in her absence.

The police are suspecting the involvement of the house maid in the case and are investigating the matter.
