Bus service from Kirari to Bihar flagged off

-

An initiative is being launched by the residents of Kirari, Delhi's largest urbanised slum as the people living there were helped themselves by starting a bus service from Kirari to remote parts of Bihar, ending at the Nepal border. In-charge of Media, Social Media and IT Cell of Delhi BJP, Pratyush Kanth, flagged-off the bus on its maiden journey to Bihar from Kirari. The bus will initially operate its services to Bihar twice a week and it is soon to become a daily service.

BJP leader Pratyush Kanth said, “People of Kirari, have shown to the people of Delhi, that if a government fails you, common people can come together and bring about a change in their lives. It was difficult for people to travel to Bihar and now several Bihari residents have come together and started this bus service to Muzaffarpur, Dharbhanga, Benipatti and all the way to Nepal border of Madhwapur. A large number of people living here come from these parts of Bihar.”

Kanth said, Kirari is an example of an area where 8 lakh underprivileged people live in an 8-kilometre radius with no support from the government. “Earlier, the Congress had neglected the area and now the Kejriwal government has also done nothing for the people here. Women are fighting against the 400 illegal country liquor shops (thekas) operating in this area. Residents of 106 resettlement colonies of Kirari are fighting for a police station and a local government hospital.”
